Teresa, 1900
A very beautiful Edwardian white cotton gauze dress dating to the early 1900s. Made from sheer cotton gauze, with a bloused bodice, ornate crochet lace inset at the chest, lace insertion panels throughout, pin-pleated three-quarter sleeves, and chevron pin-pleating down the front. The back fastens with buttons and hook-and-eye closures at the waist. A rare larger size for an antique Edwardian dress.
Material: Cotton gauze, crochet lace
Colour: White
Era: Edwardian, c. 1900–1910
Label: None present
Measurements:
Size: Small / Medium / US size 4–6 / UK size 8–10
Shoulders: 16.5 in / 41.9 cm
Bust: 37 in / 94 cm, with pleating expanding up to 44 in / 111.8 cm
Waist: 27–28 in / 68.6–71.2 cm
Hips: Free up to 48 in / 122 cm
Length: 57 in / 144.8 cm
Sleeve length from shoulder: 14.5 in / 36.8 cm
Sleeve length from underarm: 9.5 in / 24.1 cm
Mannequin: US size 4
Condition:
Excellent antique condition, especially considering age. There are a few repairs, primarily to the smaller lace trims; most are difficult to notice unless closely inspected, though a couple are more visible, including the largest repair at the side hip. A couple of small pinholes, a tiny dot stain at the back middle skirt, and a faint mark at the front side. These flaws do not detract from the beauty or wearability of the dress.
Care:
Handle gently due to age and delicate cotton gauze construction. Professional textile cleaning recommended. Do not machine wash, tumble dry, or bleach.
